We are heading into our testing week! Please be sure to have your students arrive on time and ready to go Thursday (reading EOG) and Friday (math EOG).
During the week, we'll brush up on our test taking skills. In reading, students will listen to me read a story. As I read, I'll review all the big ideas we've covered this year (main idea, inferences, go back to the text for answers, text structures, text features, finding the meaning of unknown words, central message, etc.). In writing, I'm assigning an informative text on a specific animal for each student to research. Students will be reading the information and studying the diagrams and pictures as they take notes. Following this, each student will write a report in his own words. I'll be looking for clearly stated topic sentences, concluding sentences, capital letters, periods, and complex sentences. This will be their final writing grade. In math, all third grade classes are rotating to review skills and concepts taught throughout the year. Each night, students will receive a homework sheet to help them review a bit more. Finally, in social studies, we've discussed the three branches of the federal government, the county offices and services, and the city offices and services. We'll make a project for these concepts this week. Then, we'll put our knowledge into action. We will be creating our own city, county, and national governments to give students a better idea of how government is structured. Remember, EOGs are Thursday and Friday!!! Thanks for all you do, Amy Flowers [email protected]
