We're in the final stretch!
This week, students will start their final unit in our EL curriculum in reading. Each day, they will learn the process for creating their own PSA (public service announcement) that will be presented at the end of the unit. Students will select a water issue that we have discussed (water conservation, water pollution, access to water) and plan on a graphic organizer using their notes as a resource. This has been an eye opening module and students have become aware of global issues that others face. In math, students continue with measurement. Last week, we worked with grams and kilograms and Liters and milliliters. We continue to review other concepts as we review for the upcoming EOG. In social studies, our class will be looking at people and events that have made a significant impact on NC history and throughout our nation. I'll assign a person to each student and they will create a fake instagram post that will describe the person they have researched and brief information for their post. Reminders: The EOG will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday following Memorial Day weekend. Students are allowed to keep water bottles and a healthy, non-messy snack beneath their desks. Please be sure to have your student arrive on time to help us get started promptly. Students arriving after 9:30 will remain in the office until all testing is completed. Thanks for all your support! Let's finish strong! Amy Flowers [email protected]
