Thank you SO incredibly much for the lovely flowers and beautiful plants, sweet cards, and yummy chocolates! This Teacher's Appreciation week was awesome!!!!
We are slowly but surely wrapping up our units! In math, students will learn about various units of measurement (liters, grams, kilograms, inches, etc.). Students will explore and predict the capacity and mass of various items as they discover more about measurement. In science, we'll finish our plant and soil studies this week. We'll start social studies on Thursday looking at how various people and events have had an impact on North Carolina. In reading, students complete their opinion essays on water pollution. They have learned to follow a template using a graphic organizer. The class knows how to write introductions with clearly stated focus statements, two paragraphs proving their points noting the problem and the solution, and a conclusion. Students will have an assessment on Thursday to check for understanding and demonstration of these writing skills. On Wednesday, May 16th, will be an optional teacher workday and a day off for students. EOGs will be the Tuesday and Wednesday following Memorial Day Weekend. Those dates are May 29th and 30th. Please be sure to have your students ready to go at 9:15. Thank you for all you do, Amy Flowers [email protected]
