This week, students will bridge their knowledge in reading. In Unit 1, students learned of the three main issues related to water: access to water, water pollution, and demand for water. Transitioning into Unit 2, students will realize the need that we must act now to protect our water supply. They will begin reading texts about challenges related to water and how that compares to their own point of view about those challenges. Students will take a mid-unit assessment on Thursday.
In math, students will continue working with fractions in real-world problems and comparing them. Students will focus on this and will have an assessment on Friday or next Monday. Our final units in math include measurement, time, and recording data and these units will be covered prior to the EOG. In science, students understand the life cycle of the plant and environmental conditions as they observe their own plants growing in our classroom. We've discussed the parts of the plant and their functions. Our remaining lessons include pollination and types of soil. Things to keep in mind: EOG dates have been announced. Third graders will take the EOG on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 29th and 30th. These dates follow the Memorial Day weekend. Since EOG tests have to start promptly at 9:30, please make every effort to have your students arrive on time and ready to go those mornings. Thank you!!! Field Day is scheduled for Monday, April 30th at 12:30. Family Night at the Book Fair is Tuesday! Please come and enjoy the evening, listening to some of your favorite books being read!
